A countryside classic since the 1980s, the Barbour Bedale is the jacket that defined British waxed outerwear. Cut from mediumweight 6oz Sylkoil waxed cotton in a rich Rustic brown, it's shorter and more tailored than Barbour's longer styles, originally designed for riding and built to move with you through wet fields, city streets, or anywhere in between. Wear it in, wax it up, and it only gets better with age.
Inside, the classic tartan-print lining is backed by a nylon drip-strip to keep moisture from seeping through the seams. A two-way brass ring-pull zip with a storm fly closure and hidden, stud-fastened throat flap seals out wind and rain, while the corduroy collar snaps up to take an optional hood. Two large bellows pockets and moleskin-lined handwarmer pockets keep essentials close and hands warm, and rear vents add practicality for riding or long days outdoors. Each jacket is hand-assembled from around 160 individual parts — a small detail that speaks to the construction behind a genuinely built-to-last piece.
